I will however outline the objective reasoning as to why M$ has never, and will never be interested in providing the best product and service it can. I'm not clever, in not novel, and I don't pretend to be. The requisite factor to work for them is the ability to read 3 different irrelevant prompts in broken English, and a pulse. Because they know no matter how much they suck, companies will still buy their GaaS (garbage as a service). This is why the service is less than it should be. That's why the products are less than what they should be. Most worker bees are trained in their suites and systems. To suggest that the collective hate for them is unfounded is just silly. They produce sub-tier product(s) with sub-tier service because they monopolize the market, -and can rightfully do so. Microsoft, Adobe, and Intuit are digital cancer. I know that's not 'the answer', but meh, I never look at the machine, had a warehouse shelf full of unused monitors, so it worked for me. The last time I ran into this problem I just hooked a small monitor up to it (1920x1080). SAC, because like cats and belly rubs, they want the updates and modernization, but they don't want it.Īnd then whine and throw tantrums and think they're being clever by trotting out tired, worn-out old cliches like "M$" and "Winblows." Along the order of people still thinking it's necessary to explain what KISS stands for (apparently, rocking and rolling all night, but that's not important right now). I completely understand why they wouldn't ever do this, but I'd also love to see where it could go without needing to hold back for compatibility.Įxcept people seem to lose their minds when we start talking about LTSC vs. It's 90% of the reason Windows is still the dominant OS, but I'd love to see a split where they maintain an LTS version of Windows that keeps all the compatibility stuff, but also have a separate version where they don't make it such a point to keep features like this, especially when they don't make sense on a modern system. With that said, Microsoft has ~30 years of compatibility layers holding it back right now. If it's an older monitor that doesn't support more than 640x480, it may not work at all if it's set to a higher resolution, however, monitors with higher resolutions typically can display lower resolutions without issue. If it doesn't detect a monitor, that doesn't mean there's not one plugged in.
